Turn a Meta Ads placement breakdown into a clearer view of where budget is going, which placements over- or under-index on results, and where creative fit or delivery quality deserves a closer look.

Set the review rules

Use blended account performance for a relative placement comparison, or compare placements against your own efficiency targets.

Lower-spend placements are labeled Limited Spend.
Diagnostic, not an exclusion engine.Placement breakdowns are useful for understanding distribution and creative fit, but a weaker-looking placement should not automatically be switched off. Review sample size, objective, traffic quality and how Meta may redistribute delivery first.

How to use placement analysis

Placement reporting helps answer a different question from campaign-level reporting: not just whether the campaign performed, but where Meta actually delivered the budget across Feed, Stories, Reels, Messenger, Audience Network and other surfaces.

Spend ShareHow much of the report budget went to a placement

Useful for spotting concentration and understanding what Meta is prioritizing.

Result ShareHow much of the report outcome volume came from a placement

Compare it with spend share instead of judging a placement on raw results alone.

Efficiency IndexResult Share ÷ Spend Share

An index above 1.00 means result contribution is outpacing budget contribution.

Why a weak placement is not automatically an exclusion

Delivery is optimized across the inventory available to the campaign. A placement can look weaker in isolation because of audience mix, auction conditions, creative format, objective or limited sample size. Use the analyzer as a diagnostic starting point, then investigate the cause before narrowing placement availability.

Creative fit matters:if Stories or Reels underperform, check whether the ad was designed for a vertical placement before assuming the placement itself is the problem.
